Privacy policy eb:fly app

The following information is intended to explain to you, as a user of the eb:fly app (hereinafter referred to as “eb:fly”), how and why your personal data are processed in the app.

eb:fly helps you to easily record your health data.

You can then share these data with your doctor to better monitor your treatment and improve the success of your therapy – both for you and your doctor.

You can use eb:fly without having to use your name, date of birth, or other personal data to register. This means that you can use the app pseudonymously. We have no way of identifying you based on the data you enter.

All data you enter are stored securely and encrypted on a server in Germany. Your data can only be accessed with a special ID that only you know.

Your doctor can only access your data if you actively provide him or her with your ID. All your data are always stored and transmitted in encrypted form.

Note on data protection for children and young people under the age of 16

With eb:fly, we provide an app that deals with the disease epidermolysis bullosa and is also suitable for children and young people under the age of 16. The protection of data and the safety of users are particularly important to us. Before using eb:fly, we ask for the age of the user and ask for the consent of a parent or guardian to be obtained.

What is the purpose of data collection?

The eb:fly app is designed to support you in the daily management of your condition. In addition, the data can help your doctor to better assess your health situation.

What data do we process? 

System data:

When you use the eb:fly app, we automatically collect certain data that are necessary for the use of the app. These data are required to enable you to use the app, to ensure system security and stability in the long term, to improve the functions and performance of the app, and to prevent and eliminate misuse and malfunctions. The data processed for this purpose include:

  • Operating system
  • App version 
  • Device ID
  • RAM
  • Model
  • Operating version 

Your data:

You can provide information about yourself in various areas of our app. This includes:

  • Profile name (please note that we expressly ask you not to enter your name here)
  • Gender
  • Year of birth
  • Region
  • Current occupation

Health data:

In our app, you can provide information about your illness in various areas. This includes:

  • Information about your illness (symptoms, medication, treatment status)
  • Your personal well-being
  • Information about your activities  
  • Form of your illness
  • Photos of your wounds

In order to upload photos of your wounds to eb:fly, eb:fly requires access to your camera, which you must approve by giving your consent. You can revoke access to your camera at any time in your smartphone settings.

If you contact us personally:

For contact requests (e.g., questions about the app), we use your personal email client on your smartphone. To send these requests, leave the eb:fly app and then this communication is not handled through our system. As a user, you have full control over who you communicate with via email at all times.

Email requests usually require information such as your name, eb:fly ID, and possibly your phone number for a callback if you wish.

Legal basis

Your data are collected on the basis of your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. We also process your health data on the basis of your consent in accordance with Article 9(2)(a) GDPR.

Your consent is voluntary. You can withdraw your consent at any time without giving reasons.   

Storage

The data stored pseudonymously will be stored on our servers for the duration of your use of our app.

As soon as you no longer wish to use our app, your pseudonymized data will be anonymized and stored on our servers for statistical purposes. It will no longer be possible to trace these data back to you as a natural person. Your anonymized data will then be aggregated with those of other users and subsequently analyzed for medical purposes in order to enable and improve medical findings.

If you do not use eb:fly for more than 13 months, your data will be anonymized automatically.

If you have sent us email inquiries, your emails will be deleted in a timely manner after your questions have been answered.

The technical data and usage data will be deleted immediately upon revocation of your consent.  

Recipients of your data

In order to provide our app, we use service providers who support us in designing our offering.

All data processed via the app are stored on our servers hosted by    IONOS SE.

The development of our app and the guarantee of its functionality are ensured by Systemhaus Ulm GmbH (Max-Planck-Straße 24, 89250 Senden, Germany). 

 

Other possible recipients of the data you have stored are medical personnel to whom you provide your eb:fly ID. Only persons to whom you have disclosed your eb:fly ID can access the data and assign these data to you.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right to obtain information about, correct, delete or restrict the processing of the data stored on our servers at any time, as well as the right to have the stored data provided to you in a standard electronic format.  If you have given your consent to data processing, you can revoke this consent at any time with future effect. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

How can you revoke your consent and thus delete your personal data?

If you wish to withdraw your consent to data processing by di:medi concept GmbH, you can delete the processing of your data and usage data in the eb:fly app under Profile  Revoke  legal data protection .

From this moment on, no new data will be collected from you and you and your practitioners will no longer be able to access your stored data. When you request deletion, your eb:fly ID will be deleted and thus anonymized. It is technically impossible for us to restore your data.

When you uninstall the eb:fly app or delete the app data, all recorded data that have not yet been transferred will be removed and cannot be restored by us. 

What happens if the privacy policy changes?

We reserve the right to change this privacy policy in accordance with data protection regulations. You can find the current version here or in another easily accessible place in the app.
